Bahrain MP praises on Interior, Custom Affairs Ministries
Manama: Heaping praises on Interior Ministry and Customs Affairs, MP Mohammed Al Maarifi commended their immaculate efforts to protect the borders of the Kingdom.
According to Al Maarifi, Interior Ministry is putting huge efforts and resources to enforce the law and enhance the security of Bahrain.
“This is including the Authority of Customs Affairs, which played a major role in protecting our borders from smuggling and other violations,” he commented.
In a statement, Al Maarifi remarked: “During my visit to the Ministry lately, it was assuring to overview the development plans of this crucial segment which is prepared under the direct supervision of Interior Minister Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.”
The MP highlighted that “it is expected from the Customs Affairs Authority to improve its checking and investigation techniques and equipment.”
“Most advanced technologies should be used to improve scanning and monitoring of cases. However, this shall not cause any delay in the queuing over King Fahd Causeway as waiting time is sensitive for passengers over the borders, especially the causeway,” he said.
Al Maarifi also requested to give more line of authority and empower the Customs officers, strengthen laws against violations and increase punitive measures against individuals, who are “traders” and consider smuggling as a business.
