Turkey-based channel shut after insulting Bahrain, GCC leaders

Manama : Turkey-based Egyptian channel that had repeatedly insulted the GCC leaders and the Egyptian regime through its shows, was shut down by the Turkish authorities.

Parliament’s Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee Deputy Chairman Mohammed Al Jowder confirmed in a statement yesterday that the channel was shut down as per the instruction of the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“The channel was closed and the owner was ordered to leave the Turkish lands,” Al Jowder informed.

DT News published on Saturday (May 7) that the channel is owned by Egyptian politician Ayman Nour, who is known for his supporting stances to Muslims-brotherhood terrorist organisation.

Al Jowder also demanded that the Bahraini authorities summon the Turkish Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain to follow up on the matter and to avoid any attempts to disrupt Bahraini-Turkish relations.

As reported yesterday, the channel repeatedly insulted the GCC policies and leaders in addition to the Egyptian regime in its shows and programmes.

Following public outrage against the channel because of insulting His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in one of its shows recently, MP Jamal Buhassan announced that he would file a complaint against the channel in Turkey and would meet the Turkish Ambassador to Bahrain today.
