‘12 tenders awarded in Q1 of 2016’

Manama  : The Minister of Works, Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning, Essam Khalaf, revealed that the Ministry awarded 12 tenders worth BD21,054,604 in the first quarter of 2016, and invited bids for 17 tenders worth BD100,840,324.000. 

In a press release issued here yesterday, Khalaf stated that the projects underlined the government’s determination to invest in infrastructure projects to provide a better life to the people of Bahrain, support economy and attract more investments. 

The Minister explained that the tenders in the roads sector covered the time contract for the paving and re-paving of roads, which included paving and re-paving roads and carrying all other related works, for a period of two years, pre and post consulting services for North Manama Causeway (Phase 2) and the causeway connecting to Busaiteen. 

Another project is the revamp of Jasra Interchange (Phase 1), which consists of creating a new additional curve and acceleration and deceleration roads along Sh. Isa bin Salman Highway at a length of 1400m. It include dredging works, asphalt paving, creating pedestrian crossing, adjusting the road system, protecting service facilities, signage and lighting.      

“The sanitary sector covered the expansion of Tubli Plant; aiming to increase the capacity of the plant from 200,000m3/day to 400,000m3/day to accommodate present and future sewage flows. The other project is the storm water drainage project in Muharraq and the Capital Governorate- Pack 3A,” he informed. The project serves 10 blocks in Muharraq and the Capital. 

Another project is the sewerage network project in Nasfah Block 733 and part of Block 743. The project comprises of constructing 6.1-km-long main connections and 2.9-km-long sub-connections, a lifting station and 622 inspection chambers and connecting 364 houses to the network to benefit residents of Block 733 in Nasfah and Block 743 in Sanad.
