Bahrain jails dognapper
Manama : The Supreme Appeals Court has upheld the three-year jail sentence issued against a Bahraini man convicted of stealing a dog.
The theft was reported to police officers by a GCC national woman, who lives in a residential complex.
According to her, she had asked one of her workers to take her pet dog for a walk. But the worker returned without the pet, and told the woman that two men had stolen the dog.
“He told me that while he was walking, two men disembarked from a car. One of them was holding a knife. He told him to give him the dog,” the woman told prosecutors.
The two reportedly attacked the labourer with a plank when he refused to hand over the dog. According to court files, the woman had published an advertisement about the dog, offering a reward of BD250 for those who bring the dog back to her.
Next day, a man approached her with the dog. Police officers later identified the culprits.
