Charity Birdman Competition today
Manama : The 22nd annual charity Birdman Competition takes place today starting at 3pm on the British Club premises swimming pool in Mahooz. It is organised by the club’s cycling section known as the Llongsteppers and features both a junior and a ‘not so grown up’ adults category.
Last year more than a BD1,000 was raised for the chosen beneficiary the Bahrain Down Syndrome Society and this year it is the RIA School in Adliya.
Around 40 or more ‘budding aviators’ many in fancy costumes are expected to take to the air with the idea of the event to wear fancy dress and jump into the pool and seeing how far they can “fly” down the length of the pool, but as of yet no one has achieved the feat so far.
