Kitesurfing from Bahrain to Abudhabi : Guiness record for Anke Brandt

Manama : German kitesurfer, Anke Brandt’s kite-mission from Amwaj Islands, Bahrain to Abu Dhabi entered the Guinness World Record.

Through the GET Kite Mission - Kitesurf Arabia, Ms. Brandt kited for over 30 hours. She received the official certificate from Guinness World Records after submitting the mission’s evidence. This is not the first time Anke Brandt is recognised by the  Guinness World Records, she made her debut in the world record books when she circumnavigated Bahrain in 2014, covering a distance of 250 kms. “Through the GET Kite Mission, I covered a distance of 489.62 kms breaking my previous record for the longest continuous kite-surfing journey by a woman,” she explained.

The record breaking mission took place from April 17 to April 19.  She was accompanied by a five-member boat team, onboard a support boat ‘Vigilant’, which was provided by Kvichak Marine.

“Accompanied by the support boat, I kited non-stop through day and night with two very interesting night kiting sessions, “she said.

“It was an incredible journey which taught me a lot about myself and Mother Nature,” she commented. Anke raised an estimated $2,500 for the charity organisation ‘Wings for Life’ through the mission. “We were aiming to raise $5,500 and have kept donations open online for those who would still like to donate to the cause,” she added.
