Witnesses to be heard in drug case on Sept 9

Manama

Prosecution witnesses will be heard on September 9 in the trial of a man, in his fifties, accused of selling drugs.

The accused was apprehended promoting the use of shabu. An officer in plain clothes contacted the accused, who agreed to sell BD180 worth of shabu.

They agreed to see each other near the accused’s house. On completing the transaction, anti-drugs squad arrested him and inspected his house, where BD425 was found stashed underneath a fish tank.

The accused's saliva also tested positive of hashish.

He was charged with possessing illegal drugs with intention to use and sell.

His lawyer yesterday requested to hear the prosecution witnesses and asked for his client to be released given his old age.
