GEFT Forum 2016 to be held on May 18, 19

Manama : Gulf Education Future Technology (GEFT) Forum 2016 will be held at the Gulf Hotel on May 18, 19 under the patronage of Minister of Education Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi. 

The Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH) and Work Smart will organise the event in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. The two-day event is expected to attract over 200 participants, teachers and education specialists from private and public schools and universities in Bahrain, said the organisers

GEFT Forum 2016 aims to support governmental efforts to strengthen the capacity of teachers using information and communication technology in education, said BTECH President Ubaydli Ubaydli.

“The forum keeps pace with the efforts of the Ministry of Education by launching the project ‘digital empowerment in education’ that was applied in a selected sample of schools in Bahrain this year,” Ubaydli said.

He explained that the GEFT 2016 seeks to develop a national model for digital empowerment in education, shaping a clear national plan to activate this model.

Work Smart Chairman Ahmed Al Hujairy explained that GEFT 2016 combines educational institutions and tech companies in the Kingdom in order to build a deeper understanding about the needs of e-learning, to stimulate innovation and creativity among teachers and school leaders and to keep abreast of new developments in the field.

Al Hujairy pointed out that the forum’s discussions will also address infrastructure networks, programmes, and applications of information and communications used in the educational process, such as computers and interactive display, digital photography and blackboards, modern electronic and digital devices, as well as educational applications such as digital educational content of the curriculum and activities enrichment, digital and virtual laboratories, simulation programs and training websites.
