Bahrain St Chris hosts Food Revolution Day

Manama : St Christopher’s School hosted Food Revolution Day today at its Saar Campus this morning.

A school official said, “A number of schools are taking part and we are thrilled to host this popular event. Also, this year, we plan to celebrate the bicentennial of the Bahrain and UK relations.”

Although the event was not open to the public, students, teachers and staff visited the stalls throughout the day. As part of the celebrations, students brought to school today dishes of their choice that they made from scratch at home over the weekend.

Originally devised by well-known TV Chef Jamie Oliver, Food Revolution Day is designed to get kids interested in cooking.

“I’ve been campaigning for better food and nutrition for more than 15 years now. While I’ve never been more concerned about the state of global child health, I’m absolutely positive that we can reverse the tide. Together, if we speak out now as one united, global voice, we have the power to make meaningful, lasting change in the way our children access, consume and understand food,” Jamie Oliver said in his website www.jamiesfoodrevolution.org.

“We’re facing an exciting, but scary time ahead, and the health of future generations really is in our hands,’ he added.
