Indian chartered accountants to groom CA students in Bahrain

Manama : Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) would provide articleship training for students in Bahrain who wish to pursue the Chartered Accountancy course of ICAI, announced Kapil Batra, Chairperson of The Bahrain Chapter of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (BCICAI)

The agency has also approved Nath Venkitachalam, Audit Partner with BDO  Bahrain, who is a member of BCICAI as the first ever member to train CA students in Bahrain. The first CA articled student Puja Unnikrishnan has started her articles with Venkitachalam as per the requirements of the Indian CA course.

“We are glad that our Partner has been selected as the first member to provide practical training to students in Bahrain and we are happy to be associated with the Bahrain Chapter of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India to provide training platform to CA students within the Firm.  This practical training will provide valuable experience and knowledge and will help the CA students to complete the course successfully,” said Ali Jawad, CEO of BDO Bahrain.

As part of the CA course, the students are required to undergo 3/3.5 years of practical training under a practicing Chartered Accountant recognised by ICAI.  With this practical training facility, the full CA course can be completed from Bahrain itself.

Kapil Batra highlighted the efforts of the immediate past BCICAI Chairperson Meenakshi Sundaram in initiating the approval process and urged that the more Indian CA’s based in Bahrain who fulfil the prescribed criteria of ICAI to accept articles must approach ICAI to obtain the necessary approvals so as to enable aspiring CA candidates to fulfil the practical training in Bahrain.
