Drug peddling : Bahrain jails four

Manama : The High Criminal Court has handed down jail terms to four persons accused of drug abuse and peddling.

The first defendant, a Bahraini, and his co-defendant, a Thai national, were handed down five years in prison.

Both of them were charged with peddling drugs, but the rest were handed down six months each behind the bars for using it.

The first two were fined BD3,000 each, while the
other two were fined BD100 each.

The accused were arrested in a sting operation after a tip-off revealed to police officers that the four were peddling and taking drugs.

A police officer in plain clothes contacted the Thai man and requested for drugs. The latter was arrested while he was handing the drugs to the undercover agent.

He straightaway told the cops that he was promoting drugs for the first defendant.
