Kowari, Janahi champions

Manama : Young Bahraini golfers Ali Al Kowari and Yusuf Janahi (11 points) proved unbeatable in the final competition of the six-week long Porsche Monday Madness Night Golf Series at the Royal Golf Club, to finish with the overall order of merit title with 11 points.

Despite not finishing in the top five in the final Vegas Stableford competition, two second place finishes and one third place finish were enough to give the duo the title. Rob Lane and playing partner Nils

Berge (9.5) came second on the leader board with Khalifa Daij and Khalifa Al Merisi (9), last week’s winners coming in third.

A full field of 44 players competed in the closely fought final competition of the series won by Sanjay Lal and Tapan Vaidya (26 nett on countback), with Mohammed Akeel and Iftikhar Butt (26) second with the same score and Steven Foster and Brian Bridgeford (26) third also with the same score, while nearest the pin side contests on holes 12 and 16 were won by Steven Hill and Khalifa Daij respectively.

Porsche branded flags and the latest models of the Porsche Boxter and Porsche Carrera were displayed on the golf course for the duration of the competition.

The evening was rounded off with a prize presentation ceremony in the Club’s Members’ Lounge where Collin Sattar, Brand Manager for Porsche Centre Bahrain was on hand to present the prizes.

The conclusion of the series marks the end of the popular Monday Madness Night Golf Series at the Royal Golf Club until after the summer.

However, a new series of one-off events, “Monday Night Lights”, will start next Monday and the fun competitions will feature a number of different formats including skins games, individual stablefords, par 3 competitions on the Montgomerie championship course and PowerPlay events.

These nine-hole competitions will continue to be open to all including non members with 6:30pm shotgun starts.
