Bahrain jails man for attempting to murder police
Manama : The Supreme Appeals Court upheld the five years imprisonment issued earlier against a man convicted of attempting to murder police officers in Nuwaidrat in 2011.
The defendant was among 17 held guilty in connection with the case.
According to court documents, 150 masked men, including the defendants, rioted in the village of Nuwaidrat, pelting firebombs at police officers. But none of the officers got wounded.
The defendants’ involvement was confirmed following police investigations.
They were found guilty of attempting to murder police officers, rioting, participating in an illegal gathering, putting lives and properties at risk as well as possessing firebombs.
