Dr. Rabeeullah bags Pravasi Ratna Award

Manama : Prominent Gulf-based businessman Dr. K.T. Rabeeullah has been honoured with the prestigious Pravasi Ratna Award by the Europe’s first-ever Malayalam Movie Award Show for his outstanding contributions to community welfare and humanitarian deeds that span over three decades. The award will be conferred on May 28.  

Dr. K.T. Rabeeullah, Chairman of Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Group, is renowned for his philanthropic activities. He had implemented pension scheme in his village East Kodur in the Indian state of Kerala. He also adopted his village and donated free auto rickshaws to several families. 

Dr. Rabeeullah also supports numerous deprived students by sponsoring their educational fees and scholarships. In 2013, he was conferred with the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Award, the highest honour accorded to overseas Indians for their pioneering role in enhancing India’s image globally.  

Dr. Rabeeullah has recently started a charity initiative of US$1.5 million to be distributed within a span of three years for the needy and deserving families. 

Earlier this month, he extended his help for the family of Jisha, who was brutally raped and murdered in Perumbavoor, Kerala by offering five cent of land to construct a house and BD1,800 to Jisha’s mother. 

Last month, Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Group disbursed BD300 each to the families of those killed in the fireworks accident at the Puttingal Temple at Paravur, Kerala. 

The Group has also provided drinking water for the residents near the Puttingal temple in the wake of the tragedy. Nearly 300 families near the mishap site have benefited from the programme.
