BACA expo opens in Bahrain
Manama : On the occasion of the International Museum Day, Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) opened “Intersections” exhibition in Bahrain National Museum yesterday.
Shaikha Azza bint Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Assistant Undersecretary for Culture and National Heritage; Shaikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Culture and Arts Director; Dr. Nadine Boksmati, BACA Advisor; and Dominique Schuster, French Cultural Advisor in the French Embassy in Bahrain were present on the occasion.
The opening occasion was marked by the classic tunes from collective musicians of ‘Musica Nigella’ with the participation of Catherine Trottmann performing instrumental and lyrical pieces by French composers of the 19th and 20th centuries, in collaboration with the French Embassy at the lobby of the Bahrain National Museum.
Dr. Nadine Boksmati provided a tour with full explanation of the most prominent holdings of the important eras of Tylos, Dilmun and the Islamic period.
The exhibition reintroduced the idea of museum exhibitions by integrating modern and technological displays of films highlighting the value of archaeological sites in the Kingdom like Dilmun’s burial mounds and Bahrain Fort.
The exhibition will run until the end of the year, on December 31, in order for visitors to have a chance of this aesthetic and visual experience.
The exhibition presents 139 archaeological pieces of metallic, jewellery and maps that have never been displayed before as they were found from the last exploration operations in a number of areas like Jabal Al Dukhan, Saar, Maqsha, Karana, Al Markh, Janabiya, Hamad Town and A’ali.
They are exhibited in the museum’s Dilmun Hall, Tylos Hall and Islamic period section.
It should be noted that the world celebrates International Museum Day on May 18 since 1977.
The slogan for this year’s celebration is “Museums and Cultural Space.”
