Bahrain woman acquitted after insulting nurse
Manama : The High Criminal Appeals Court has cancelled the conviction of a woman accused of insulting a nurse.
The defendant was earlier held guilty and fined BD50. The nurse filed a complaint against the woman, stating that the woman had insulted her during a visit to the woman’s relative, who was a patient.
The woman, however, denied these allegations, explaining that the plaintiff was having problems with her sister, who got married to her (the nurse) father 16 years ago.
She told prosecutors that the nurse is suing her in retaliation over her sister’s marriage to the her father. But the High Criminal Court held her guilty, though only fined her. The woman challenged the initial verdict, and the Appeals Court ruled in her favour, labelling the accusation against her as malicious.
