Bahrain reduce rioter's jail term
Manama : The High Criminal Court has reduced the jail term of a 20-year-old rioter to only six months after he was initially given one-year imprisonment.
The defendant was among a group of protesters, who rioted on November 15 two years ago in the village of Sanabis, blocking the Budaiya Highway with stones and wastes.
They also attacked the police officers with iron rods. The defendant was nabbed after police investigations established his involvement in the sabotage.
He admitted to participating in the riot, and prosecutors charged him with disturbing public order, putting lives and properties at risk. He was sentenced to one year in prison, but was granted BD100 bail, pending the outcome of his appeal.
