Shaikh Nasser award meet held in Bahrain

Manama: The Executive Office of this year’s edition of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Scientific Research Award in the field of sports yesterday held talks at the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) premises in Seef on the most recent arrangements to prepare for the awarding ceremony later this year.

Executive office head and BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, award general secretary Dr Abdulrahman Sayyar and other members reviewed what has been accomplished between August 2015 and April 2016.

The Executive Office submitted a number of recommendations to the General Secretariat of the award in regards to the suggested budget to promote the event.

This is the second edition of the award and aims at promoting positive attitudes towards scientific research to create knowledge and contribute to the development of the sports sector.

Among the main objectives of the award is to encourage experts and researchers, locally and regionally, to conduct applied scientific research to develop the sports movement and improve the level of performance in all areas.

The award is organised and conducted by the BOC and is under the patronage of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman, and BOC president.

Winners in each part of the award will receive a certificate of appreciation, signed by Shaikh Nasser, in addition to a cash prize and commemorative gift-bearing symbol of the award.
