Bahrain discuss refugee children education
Tunis : The need to provide education to Arab children, especially those living in refugee camps, was discussed during the 23rd General Conference of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation (ALECSO) in Tunis.
Minister of Education Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi headed the Bahraini delegation during conference held in the Tunisian capital yesterday with the participation of member States.
Addressing the conference, Dr. Al Nuaimi stressed the need to exert more efforts to provide the necessary support for refugee children and their host countries. He also called on ALECSO to reconsider the programmes included in its plan through dedicating the funds allocated to them to support efforts to deliver education services to Arab children in refugee camps.
He called for the need to take advantage of the research and experiences that will vie for the UNESCO King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education.
Tackling the issue of modern technology and its uses, Dr. Al Nuaimi stressed the importance of turning school curricula to digital ones.
On vocational education, he called on Arab countries to upgrade such a vital sector, given its importance in meeting the needs of the labour market.
The Minister lauded the key role played by ALECSO to consolidate and promote education, science and culture to strengthen fraternity and solidarity among the Arab countries, reiterating the Kingdom’s support to the organisation’s efforts in this regard.
