Polytechnic graduate wins GPCA’s prestigious award

Manama : Bahrain Polytechnic International Management and Logistics graduate Amal Al Saffar has won the Gulf Petrochemical and Chemical Association’s (GPCA) “Rising Star in The Supply Chain” Award for 2016 for her final graduation project.

The Award recognises institutions and talents working in the field that show  leadership and innovation in this area, and which is of benefit and interest to the region’s Petrochemical sector.

Bahrain Polytechnic Chairman Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa stated that the graduates provided the best proof of the extent of their competence and skills required in the market. This made them the first choice for major institutions and business owners locally, regionally and internationally, he added.

 “Amal is not only a perfect example of Bahrain Polytechnic graduates efficiency and worthiness, but also a perfect example of Bahrain’s youth in their pursuit of excellence,” Shaikh Hisham said.

The statement came during the honouring ceremony of Al Saffar, who has won the prestigious award for her final graduation project that she conducted during her industrial training period at Gulf Petrochemicals Industry Company (GPIC).

The ceremony was also attended by Bahrain Polytechnic Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mohamed Ebrahim Al Aseeri who also congratulated Al Saffar and praised her achievement that raises the name of the Kingdom on a global scale.

During the ceremony, Al Saffar commended the problem solving, dialogue and debate teaching methods adapted at the Polytechnic, which encourages innovation and creativity. She also addressed her appreciation to his Shaikh Hisham on this gesture, which encourages her to aim higher and work toward bigger accomplishments. She also thanked CEO Dr. Al Aseeri for his support and encouragement throughout her studies at the Polytechnic and his follow-ups since she graduated.

Al Saffar said that her project focused on eco-friendly logistics and road transport industry activities and that her studies at the Polytechnic along with her training at GPIC has given her confidence to participate in the contest and compete with applicants from other countries.

The “Rising Star Award in the Supply Chain” gives students an opportunity to provide quality innovative research projects or ideas to the business community in the area of the supply chain in the Arabian Gulf region.

Winners were selected from among 22 participants from across the GCC and were divided into four categories. The winners were honoured during the GPCA annual supply chain forum held in Dubai recently.
