Confluence of creativity at RUW’s ‘Moda Mist 2016’

Manama : Royal University for Women (RUW) organised its annual fashion show and art and design showcase on Thursday on the university’s campus in West Riffa. The design exhibition showcased the works of the College of Arts and Design students.  The event, “Moda Mist 2016,” witnessed a high number of turnouts.

The show featured the culmination of the final year projects of the aspiring artists and had variety of innovative designs using different mediums.

Speaking to DT News, Kaltham, a final year student in Designing, who learned the nuances of the design art from her mother, said, “This is a huge encouragement for students like me. The event gives us self-confidence to approach our professional life much easier.”

Moda Mist 2016 started with the opening of the art and design exhibition where the works of the final graduation projects of the graphic design programme were displayed.

The graphic design projects challenged the students to create a complete brand for various institutions. The interior projects featured 20 graduating students.

The architectural projects required the students to complete a detailed floor plan and a mock 3D design of the actual project. The fashion projects took on the form of a fashion show where graduating fashion design students displayed their collections.

“This is a huge achievement. For me, designing was a hobby, until when my aunt inspired me to study it as a disciple.  I think, everyone must cope with newest trends and designing, but keeping in mind our tradition and culture”, Shaikha Najla Bint Rashid Al Khalifa, final year student said.

Dr. Janon Kadhim, Dean of the College of Art and Design, remarked: “I am proud by the dedication, enthusiasm and commitment of our students. It required a high level of professionalism, and the students have excelled in it.”
