Bahrain jail six for cop murder attempt
Manama : The High Criminal Court has sentenced six defendants to seven years behind the bars each for attempting to kill a policeman in Sitra.
The defendants were reportedly among a mob of 150 people that reportedly attacked two armoured vehicles and five police patrols in Sitra.
The policeman was occupying one of the armoured vehicles when the riot broke out. It is reported that the mob used firebombs during the attack, and one of the bombs fell inside the victim’s armoured vehicle, causing burn wounds to his face, ears and neck. The defendants had been charged with attempting to murder a police officer, rioting, possessing firebombs and participating in an illegal gathering.
