Bahrain MPs to vote on setting up vehicle registration, inspection branches
Manama: In a bid to reduce the long queues at the General Directorate of Traffic, MPs are intending to oblige the government to open new branches to provide vehicles registration and inspection services in different areas of the country.
Hoora and Gudaibiya areas’ representative MP Adel Al Assoomy submitted a proposal last July to launch the new centres.
As per procedure, the proposal was referred to the Council’s Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee, which approved it after studying it.
“Considering the existing pressure on the General Directorate of Traffic’s Headquarter in Isa Town, especially as it is the only place that provide vehicles’ registration and inspection services, opening new branches is a necessity,” Al Assoomy said in a statement earlier.
He said the proposal comes to fulfil many demands of citizens to open new branches, reduce the pressure on the headquarters in Isa Town and save people’s time and efforts.
The matter would be voted on this Tuesday and will be referred to Shura Council in case the parliament approves it.
