Southern Governorate to hold third day race
Manama: Action in the 2016 Olympic Day will resume today with the third series of running races organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) in cooperation with the Southern Governorate.
Today’s races are from 4.15pm and take place at the Awali walkway opposite Riffa Views, which features four age category races for both male and female participants.
The first is over 800 metres for 6 to 8 years boys and girls, followed by a 1km race for those aged between 9 and 11 years, then a 1.2km race for 12 to 14 years and 3km which is open for participants who are aged 15 years and above.
Registration has already been announced online at ems.bahrainroadrunners.com and also at the race venue.
Today will also feature a swimming competition organised in cooperation with the Bahrain Swimming Association and taking place at Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town between 9am and 12 noon.
In a statement issued by the BOC, general secretary Abdulrahman Askar said he is pleased for the positive interactive from Bahrain’s all four governorates in being part of the Olympic Day festivities this year.
He noted these events have proven to be successful and lived to their aspirations as it achieved the objectives of promoting Olympic values among national and expatriate athletes in Bahrain.
