Bahrain removes violating commercial advertisements
Manama : A drive to eliminate commercial advertisements violations in the Northern Governorate that was launched by the authorities recently has been completed.
Within the campaign to remove violating ads in the area, the Northern Area Municipality confirmed that it had referred many establishments to security authorities and the Public Prosecution.
Northern Area Municipality Director Yousif Al Ghatam said, “We have contacted Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry to suspend the activities of the establishments that continue to violate commercial ads regulations. In addition to that, we’re in touch with security authorities to take legal action against them.”
Al Ghatam said that violating ads had become an unwanted phenomenon recently and insisted that “necessary action should be taken against violators immediately.”
“We have removed over 200 violating ads in Hamad Town alone during the past week and this campaign will continue until this phenomenon is completely eliminated,” the director stated.
He said that the campaign comes to preserve the civilised atmosphere of the country and eradicate the unwanted behaviours of many commercial establishments.
“The municipality will not be lenient with violators and we’re expecting cooperation from governmental authorities and civil society establishments to achieve public interest,” he added.
On his part, Northern Area Municipal Council Mohammed Buhamood said, “This campaign aims at preserving the public view and remove violations that have a negative economic and social impact.”
Buhamood added that “the procedures of obtaining commercial ads permits are very easy and violators have no reason to continue breaking the law”.
Both the officials have called upon the different establishments in the Kingdom to adhere to the rules and regulations to avoid being held legally accountable.
