Shyann Horton wins May Queen 2016 title in Bahrain

Manama : Shyann Horton from Mumbai, India won the Indian Club UAE Exchange May Queen 2016 title in a colourful event held on Thursday night at Indian Club. Shyann also won the ‘Best Hair-Do’ and ‘Best Walk’ awards. Pradnya Walke, also from Mumbai, became first Runner-Up and another Mumbai contestant, Sharada Chamur, emerged as the second Runner-Up. Deshi Fernando from Sri Lanka grabbed the ‘Best Smile’ award. 

The spectacular stage-show had Harley Davidson motorbikes; traditional and international dancers, DJ Andy and his music; a BMW 6 Series Convertible motorcar etc. 

Each contestant was taken to the stage on Harley Davidson bikes by The Bahrain Desi Riders for the casual-wear round. Then followed two further rounds ethnic wear and party-wear. Then judges selected the seven finalists for Round Four, which was a question and answer session. 

Vineeth Kumar, General Manager of UAE Exchange Bahrain, presented the sash and crown to Shyann Horton. 

On the occasion, Anand Lobo, President of The Indian Club, said: “The May Queen event is always a special evening, but I think tonight we surpassed ourselves. The stage show was spectacular and I would like to thank The Bahrain Desi Riders and all the dancers for making it such wonderful entertainment.”

The Ambassador of India to Bahrain, Alok Kumar Sinha was the chief guest. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa and the Ambassadors of Philippines and Sri Lanka to Bahrain were the guests of honour. Mamta Sinha, the wife of the Indian Ambassador to Bahrain, was also one of the judges.
