Minister inspects Zallaq port project

Manama : The Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Essam Khalaf, inspected the final stages of works to set up the Zallaq port. 

During the inspection, the officials gave a detailed explanation to Khalaf on the implementation of the work at the port.  It would be able to accommodate 112 boats with 56 storage units for sailors to store their equipment.

The Minister said the construction work of the port’s boats and storage units is almost complete. “Besides, works on the street leading to the port, entrances and exits to ensure the flow of traffic in the area were over.” 

He also directed to start building a garden that would be associated with the harbour and set up a linking road after determining the final area of the garden with the Roads Department. The work on the garden will begin end of this month.

The final stages of the construction is expected to be complete before the end the year, after obtaining necessary approvals from the Finance Ministry allocated for the final stage of the project.

Khalaf stressed that the project is vital for the people of Zallaq and nearby areas. He explained that the Ministry was interested in meeting the needs of sailors and residents from Zallaq. The Minister was accompanied by Chairman of the Southern Governorate Municipal Council Ahmed Al Ansari, Municipal Council member representative to the 4th Constituency Bader Al Dosari, Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for Joint Municipal Services Raed Al Salah, Southern Municipality director-general Assem Abdullatif and engineers of the special project at the labour department.
