Bahrain calls for counter terrorism efforts
Cairo : Bahrain’s Ambassador to Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa has called for concerted international efforts to counter extremist ideologies and terrorism.
He was speaking on behalf of Arab countries –as Bahrain is the current president of the Arab League- at the joint meeting with the ambassadors of the Permanent UN Security Council member states, held yesterday on the Arab League’s premises. Arab League Secretary-General Dr. Nabil Al-Araby and Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Amr Abu Al-Ata were also present.
Shaikh Rashid noted that global peace and security are currently facing serious challenges amid the spread of terrorist militias at the expense of the national State.
“Terrorism represents a threat to our shared values, and undermines our stability and development. At the same time, we are suffering from the issue of State-sponsored terrorist militias as a country in the region provides arms, funding and training for terrorist groups. It requires a deterrent international effort,” he added.
