Firm ordered to pay compensation to staff
Manama : The Labour Court has ordered a GCC national company operating in Bahrain to pay a European national US $287,000 in compensation for his unpaid indemnity.
The latter had been serving as a CEO in the company between the years 1993 and 2008, it is said. The duration of his contract was open, but he decided to step back in 2008 and his employers refused to settle his indemnity.
He was on a monthly salary worth BD 2,450. According to court files, the Ministry of Labour made attempts to settle the issue outside the courtroom, but such efforts hit a roadblock.
Therefore, the European man took his former employers to the court, and judges ruled in his favour.
