Great display by Lonappan, Sajeer

Manama : Paulson K Lonappan and Sajeer MK defeated Sanjay Jaimy and Nadeem Nahas 21-14, 15-21, 21-15 in the Premier Flight of the Second Syed Modi Doubles Badminton Tournament sponsored by Ten Electrical Equipments at the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) premises in Segaiya.

The players were divided into five groups based on skill level.

Competition was over four days in the knockout format with around 100 players in the fray. A raffle draw for all the participants was held on the final day and won by Suresh Kumar.

After the finals, a prize distribution was held for all the winners and runners-up followed by dinner attended by BKS President P.V.Radhakrishna Pillai, Secretary N.K.Veeramani and Indoor games secretary Noushad Cheriyil.

Results: Premier Flight: Paulson K. Lonappan/Sajeer MK bt Sanjay Jaimy/Nadeem Nahas 21-14, 15-21, 21-15. Flight 1: Benoy Varghese Kalayil/Thulaseedharan Pillai bt Manoj Shekhar/Anuraj Binu 16-21, 21-14, 21-12. 

Flight 2: Dr Bijosh Kidangan Jose/James Joseph Valiyaveedan bt Joseph George/Shibu 21-13, 21-13.

Flight 3: Jinu Philip Mathew/Leo Pullpally bt Anil Mathew/Deepak Sudhakar 21-13, 21-15. Flight 4: Arjun Radhakrishan/Kishore Sankar bt Mathew K.Cherian/Vinay Varghese 15-21, 21- 18, 21-15.
