Bahrain court rejects plea in assault case
Manama: The High Criminal Appeals Court has rejected the appeal of a man accused of physically assaulting a woman. The Bahraini defendant, aged 32, was earlier handed down 10 days in prison.
As per the court records, the defendant attacked his 34-year-old neighbour woman, also Bahraini national, after she suspected him of having sexual relations with her Asian maid.
She told police that she saw an image featuring both of them, stating that this proves they have an affair.
“I went to his house to talk with him, he refused to meet me. But I insisted to see him as his car was parked near the house,” she told the court. “When I insisted, he came out of his house and pushed me against the wall, and kicked me,” she explained.
The defendant was granted BD100 bail earlier.
