AmCham, KPMG host biz networking luncheon

Manama : The American Chamber of Commerce – Bahrain (AmCham Bahrain) in partnership with KPMG in Bahrain will be hosting KPMG’s Global Head of Corporate Citizenship, Lord Michael Hastings of Scarisbrick CBE as a guest speaker in the upcoming business networking luncheon.  

Organized under the theme “Doing Well, by Doing Good: Building a Resilient Business in Challenging Times”, the event will be held today from 12:15 to 2:30pm at The Ritz Carlton Bahrain Hotel & Spa’s (Al Ghazal Ballroom). 

Qays H. Zu’bi, AmCham Bahrain President stated, “We are pleased to be partnering with KPMG and honored to be hosting Lord Hastings.  He is an inspiring speaker and has an impressive background in helping companies become good corporate citizens by finding effective ways to invest in local communities, address education, health and environmental issues, and improve lives and livelihoods across the globe.”

“Every day more businesses recognize the value of giving back and are using their products, resources, and partnerships to make our communities and world a better place.  Good corporate citizenship is good for both the community and the company – making each more resilient, especially in challenging times,” Zu’bi explained. “This discussion will be relevant for anyone who is building a business.”      

Lord Hastings was previously the BBC’s Head of Public Affairs 1996 to 2003 then the first Head of Corporate Social Responsibility 2003 to 2006. He is a Trustee of the Vodafone Group Foundation and previously served for 9 years on the Board for Responsible and Sustainable Business at British Telecom.  

He first represented KPMG International on the Global Corporate Citizenship Committee of the World Economic Forum 2008 to 2010 and was a Board Director of the Global Reporting Initiative 2010 to 2012. In 2009 he became a Member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Council on Diversity and Talent, in 2010 served on the ‘Global Agenda Council on the Next Generation’.
