Aster hosts Pain Management Consultant

Manama : Pain medicine, which is a branch of medicine employing an interdisciplinary approach for easing the suffering and improving the quality of life of those living with chronic pain, is poorly understood in today’s world, opined Interventional Pain Management Consultant   Dr. Hani Al Zarra.

He was speaking at a roundtable discussion led in which he shared his 17 years of experience in treating migraines, sport injuries, osteoarthritis, tendonitis and lower back pain in the region.

“If we take the statistics of the United States as an example, around 50 million working days are lost per year as a result of dramatic increase in the number of sick days taken because of the chronic conditions. Patients suffering from the above illness lose quality of life and it will affect their productivity,” he said.

Dr. Al Zarra is currently in charge of the Acute and Chronic Pain Unit (ACPU) in a Saudi Arabia-based hospital and will be exclusively visiting Aster in Bahrain to perform medical consultations and related procedures at Aster Medical Centre in Gudaibiya from May 26 to 28.

Individuals experiencing migraines, sport injuries, osteoarthritis, tendonitis or lower back pain can avail a consultation with Dr. Al Zarra from at Aster Medical Centre, Gudaibiya.

Aster has previously hosted Dr. Prasad Krishnan – Consultant Surgical Gastroenterologist, Dr. Anil Kumar – Senior Cardiac Consultant and Dr. Dilip Panikar – Senior Consultant in Neurosurgery.

These specialists’ visits are in line with Aster’s commitment to raise healthcare awareness and reduce the prevalence of non-communicable diseases in Bahrain.
