Bahrain court rejects in arms possession case

Manama: Three men, who were sentenced to three years behind bars for possessing arms with an ex-colonel in the Intelligence, have had their appeals rejected. The High Criminal Court had earlier slapped the former colonel with 10 years in prison along with BD 500 fine for possessing arms.

Seven other suspects involved in the case, including the appellants were handed down three years in jail each as well as a fine worth BD 500 each. The ex colonel along with seven other suspects were sent for trial over accusations of possessing arms, including 7 Kalashnikov and 8 shotguns.

Six of the defendants claimed that they were being paid wages ranging between BD 400 and BD 700 by the former colonel to guard him. Judges at the High Criminal Court has also ordered the authorities to seize the arms from the defendants.
