Deputy Premier meets RCSI President

Deputy Premier Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa stressed keenness on turning Bahrain into a cornerstone of medical studies. He commended the advanced level of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), which boasts top world competences and students hailing from forty nationalities.
The Deputy Premier was speaking as he received the RCSI President Declan Magee and the accompanying high-level delegation, marking their visit to Bahrain. He lauded the landmark contributions of this academic institution ever since the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Bahrain (RCSI-Bahrain) was established in the Kingdom eleven years ago.
He congratulated the RCSI President, academic and administrative staff on the graduation of the 6th batch of doctors and nurses under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa.
"Education has nowadays become a key pillar in forming conscious minds and thoughtful generations that differentiate between right and wrong and keep off heinous extremist ideologies and destructive currents", he said.
He underlined the atmosphere of openness in Bahrain and welcomed investments in the educational sector, affirming the Government's supportive policies.
Prof. Magee commended the Government of Bahrain for its continuous support, which enabled the college to assume its role fully, stressing cooperation with other national medical and educational authorities.
He updated the Deputy Premier on planned projects and programmes and discussed key issues of mutual interest.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Premier's Advisor Khalid Mohammed Fakhro, RCSI Vice President Professor John Hyland, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Prof. Hannah Mcgee, Academic Council Chairman David Moore and Vice President for Academic Affairs Prof. Joe McMenamin.
