Joda prevails dominant

ManamaIn-form Ahmed Joda on Tuesday extended his dominant show at the 2016 Olympic Day festivities, being organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) as the 31-year- old Bahraini came on top in the men’s 15 years and above age category in the fourth race, held in cooperation with the Bahrain Road Runners (BRR) staged in Muharraq Governorate’s Dohat Arad Park.

Joda again was in peak form to capture another well-deserved victory and his fourth consecutive win after putting on similar commanding performances at the previous three races organized in different parts of Bahrain.

He secured the gold medal with ease, cruising to the finish line. Behind him was Amer Ahmed Isa for silver with the bronze medal going to Yousef Ahmed Al Qahtan.

The remaining races involved age categories of 6-8, 9-11 and 12-14.  In the 15 years and above age category race, open for women, Kaltham Elyasi was the fastest to secure the gold medal, well ahead of Maryam Mattar for silver and bronze to Sara Zuayyed.

The event was attended Muharraq governor Salman bin Isa bin Hindi, BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar and other senior representatives from both authorities.

Bin Hindi thanked all participants for taking part in the event and congratulated the winners. Askar shared similar thoughts and expressed his gratitude to Al Khalaf International, dealers of Fayrouz malt drink in Bahrain, for sponsoring the 2016 Olympic Day activities.

Askar extended his appreciation to the BRR for assisting the committee in organising the races, which were supervised by its vice-chairman Mohsin Al Sharif, race director Abdulla Majeed, treasure Abbas Mousa, head of marshals Faisal Al Fadli and logistics Ali Anbar and Ebrahim Abbas.
