Sordid random houses in Manama getting spruced up

ManamaThe issue of random houses in the Capital has been finally eliminated following a 3-year plan, it has been announced recently.

Capital Governorate Governor Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa confirmed that 100 pc of the conditions of the houses were rectified.

He stated that a specialised team enhanced interior and exterior conditions of 864 houses in the capital since 2013, with the aim of protecting the lives of tenants by ensuring safety and security conditions at the residences.

“The project comes within the directives of the Wise Leadership to support and improve services provided to citizens and residents as they’re a cornerstone of sustainable development,” the Governor said.

Shaikh Hisham’s statements came while conducting a field visit to the last four houses that were included in the project.

He was accompanied by representatives of the concerned parties, including Capital Governorate Police Directorate, Labour and Social Development Ministry, Electricity and Water Authority, Civil Defence Directorate and Health Ministry, in the presence of a number of residents.

“This project follows the decision of the Cabinet in 2013 to restrict random houses in all four governorates to protect the residents of these buildings from any risks possible. It sheds light on the conditions of foreign workers in regards to their residences, which lack safety and hygienic requirements,” the Governor added.
