Court acquitted man in road mishap case

ManamaThe Lower Criminal Court has acquitted a man of causing the death of an Asian man in a road accident due to lack of evidence. The defendant was earlier charged with manslaughter after his car ran over the man.

However, his lawyer argued that he wasn’t responsible for the mishap as the court files came without evidences that the defendant committed any violations.

“The victim was fleeing from his sponsor and he tried to cross the road without paying attention to the traffic. My client didn’t violate any of the traffic rules,” Mahmood Rabea, the defendant’s lawyer said, before adding “My client was driving his car at a very normal speed, and he didn’t commit any foul play.”

The court said during its ruling that the evidences against the defendant weren’t sufficient to hold him guilty.
