Al Nuwayef crush cobra

 Al Nuwayef crushed Cobra 9-1 in their third and final Group D matches to qualify for the knockout rounds of the first Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Sports Games and the eighth edition of Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Sports Games (Nasser 8) last night at Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town.

Scoring for Al Nuwayef were former Bahrain national star player Hussain Ali “Pele” and Ahmed Rashid who netted four times each with the goals in the 33rd, 39th, 45th, 48th, 50th, 60th, 66th and 77th minutes.

Mohammed Flamarzi scored the ninth goal for Al Nuwayef in the 89th minute and Sa’ood Hilal scored a consolation goal for Cobra in the 85th minute.

Following the match, Hussain Ali 'Pele' was officially named as the top scorer so far in the tournament with seven goals as Al Nuwayef advanced to the knockout rounds with seven points and Cobra were eliminated with three points to its name.

The event is being held under the patronage of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee.

The football tournament concludes on July 3 and three other sports - basketball. volleyball and handball are also being played.
Basketball kicks off on June 25 and concludes on July 1 with all matches involving six teams played at the Bahrain Basketball Association in Umm Al Hassam.

Volleyball gets underway on June 24 and concludes on June 30 with all six teams playing matches at Bahrain Volleyball Association in Isa Town and the handball takes place at the Bahrain Handball Association in Umm Al Hassam and concluding on June 23.
