Bahrain free of cattle disease
Manama : Bahrain is free of lumpy skin inflammatory disease of cattle, confirmed a government official, yesterday.
The assuring statements came after an outbreak of the disease was reported in a neighbouring country.
Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry’s Agriculture and Marine Resources Undersecretary Shaikh Khalifa bin Isa Al Khalifa confirmed that all necessary precautionary and preventive measures have been taken.
The undersecretary explained that Animal Health Control Department has conducted necessary veterinary surveys at various cattle farms in the Kingdom.
He also affirmed that the ministry constantly follows up the development of the disease at the regional and global level.
Head of Animal Health Control Department Dr. Ibrahim Yusuf said that cattle import from the disease-affected countries has been banned.
