Arab driver imprisoned for fraud
Manama : An Arab driver was yesterday sentenced to one year behind the bars for cheating his employer.
The defendant was serving a Bahraini businessman and he allegedly obtained BD5000 after submitting fake receipts to the latter’s accountant.
The man, who was in charge of buying grocery for the businessman’s household, exploited the situation by collecting other customers’ receipts.
He later gave them to the accountant and received cash in exchange of their value.
“After a few days the total amount of the receipts touched BD5000, and I decided to check them. They were all from a supermarket in Sar and to my surprise there were items that we don’t use among the purchased list,” the businessman told the prosecutors.
