Bahrain jails man for 3 years for robbery
Manama : The Lower Criminal Court sentenced a person to three years in prison for robbing the cash register of a local supermarket.
The accused belongs to a rich family, but he, along with some unidentified men, robbed the shop after breaking into it.
There were five Asian nationals in the shop when the accused arrived. But all of them fled when they saw that the defendants were holding wooden sticks.
“We fled to our apartment, located in the same building as the supermarket. After 30, minutes we saw a delivery car and realised that the robbers had left,” one of the employees told prosecutors.
Police identified the defendant after CCTV cameras installed outside the supermarket captured the registration plate of the vehicle he used as a getaway.
It was found that the defendant was robbing shops to raise funds to finance his travel to a GCC state, where he was spending all the money.
