Bahrain court overturns acquittal of two doctors
Manama : Two doctors, including a Bahraini anaesthetist and a Brazilian plastic surgeon had their acquittal overturned in connection with causing the death of a woman in her fifties.
The defendants were sentenced to three months each in prison for their offence.
According to court files, the duo carried out a liposuction on the woman’s tummy and shoulders. Prior to the operation, the woman was found to be having diabetes, heart problems and high blood pressure. However, the duo decided to go on and operate the woman.
Although the surgery succeeded, the woman’s condition deteriorated and she eventually died. The defendants were accused of negligence that led to the death of the woman.
