Minister participates in International Labour Conference
Geneva : Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan headed the Kingdom’s delegation to the 105th International Labour Conference being held in Switzerland.
The minister reasserted the leadership’s keenness in hoisting Bahrain’s flag at all international functions, including the International Labour Conference, which is one of the key specialized events that brings together the three production partners (Government, employers and employees).
He said Bahrain has made quantum leaps since the reforms of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa had been launched, citing the continuous support and follow up by Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The minister said Bahrain’s participation in the current session gains special importance since the Kingdom joined the Governing Body of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in 2014 and effectively participated in drafting recommendations and resolutions.
The Bahraini delegation includes Undersecretary for Labour Sector Sabah Salem Al Dosary, Head of Bahrain’s Permanent Mission to the UN’s Geneva-based headquarters Dr. Yousef A. K. Bucheeri, businessman Adel Hassan Al-Aali member of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), alongside representatives of the General Federation of Workers Trade Unions in Bahrain (GFWTUB) and Bahrain Free Labour Unions Federation (Al Hurr), officials from the Ministry of Labour and Social Development and from other relevant governmental departments.
