Final touches on Shaikh Isa Award ceremony

ManamaThe organising committee of Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa Award for Voluntary Work is putting its final touches on the awards ceremony, scheduled to take place on Sunday at Sofitel Hotel in Zallaq.

This edition awards ceremony is organized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), and is dedicated to sports officials with prominent overseas posts for over four years.

Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee President, is patronizing the ceremony, at which 70 sports personnel will be honoured.

Fajer Jassim, chairwoman of the committee tasked at preparing for this occasion, asserted the readiness of all the standing committees as the programme for the 90-minute ceremony has been approved.

She said the BOC has sent invitations to a select number of senior sports leadership in the kingdom as well as the honorees.

The Advisory Committee, headed by BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, had its concluding meeting recently and finalized the list of honorees for the evening.

The committee includes Sports Affairs executive director Abduljalil Asad and media, public relations and marketing director Mohammed Lori.

It also has sports editors Abbas Al A’ali, Salman Al Haiki, Majed Sultan, Aqeel Al Sayed and Ahmed Kareem as representatives of local Arabic newspapers.

The first edition of the award, which took place in 2012, was a tribute to long-serving staff and sport reporters. Administrators who have worked for twenty-five years at least at different sport federations were honoured.
