Action against those who posted arrest of pics online

ManamaIndividuals who posted pictures of the arrest process of Bahraini fugitives who were planning to escape to Iran on Saturday, will be held accountable for their actions, Interior Ministry stated yesterday.

The ministry’s statements followed the circulation of pictures on social media of policemen arresting the eight fugitives who were fleeing to Iran.

“Legal steps were taken against those who posted the images of the capture of fugitives to Iran online,” the ministry tweeted.

The pictures posted were described as inconsistent and misleading by some social media users, as some claimed that they were of inmates who escaped the Dry Dock Detention Centre on Friday night, while others said it was the arrest of fishermen who broke the ongoing ban on shrimping near Muharraq Fishermen’s Port.

However, the ministry’s statements clarified that it was the arrest of the eight wanted individuals who were attempting to flee to Iran.

DT News reported yesterday that eight people wanted for cases related to terrorism were arrested from a boat located to the northern parts of the island. They were planning to take off to Iran with the assistance of other wanted fugitives currently sheltered by the Islamic Republic.
