Bahraini teen’s body to be buried today
Manama : The body of a Bahraini teenage girl who died while undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Jordan reached Bahrain last night.
Seventeen-year-old Bayan Riyadh passed away on Friday after she was affected by Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) disease, which caused severe complications in her respiratory system.
However, the administration of the hospital refused to hand over Bayan’s body to her family because of BD26,000 of unpaid bills. On Sunday, Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa ordered Foreign Affairs and Health Ministries to coordinate with the concerned parties and immediately repatriate Bayan’s body.
DT News has learnt yesterday that the body of the twelfth grader reached Bahrain in the evening and would be laid to rest in her hometown graveyard in Sanabis at 5pm today.
Relatives informed that Bayan is the eldest daughter in the family and has two younger brothers. She was described as a calm and smart girl. She survived the complications of SLE disease in 2010, when it affected her kidneys. But, she succumbed to the disease this time as it targeted her respiratory system and caused paralysis.
