Court acquit top real estate official of embezzlement
Manama : A major real estate development firm chairman and managing director have been acquitted of embezzlement due to lack of evidence.
The duo is said to have sold equipment belonging to a construction company that had already filed a lawsuit against the development firm. The latter was responsible for building a residential project, but eventually failed to settle the dues.
The construction company filed a complaint and left their equipment in the site so that the court would assign experts to evaluate the value of the work that was done. But as the case was being heard by the court, the duo was alleged to have sold the equipment and pocketed the money.
However, the court underlined that there wasn’t any judicial decision taken in regard to not disposing the materials at the site. “Thus there was no evidence to hold the pair guilty,” the court stated.
