Al Fakhar clash with Ahlam Batelco

Defending Champions Al Fakhar will eye today the opportunity to progress to the next stage, when they face Ahlam Batelco.

Al Fakhar are in the second place behind Galacticos in Group 2, but only on goal difference, after both won their first.  In other match, Galacticos will be facing Al Wehda.  Al Wehda and Ahlam Batelco are occupying third and fourth place respectively after their disappointing results in the first round of the group stage. They face an uphill task in getting point from their matches, given the top-notch performances showcased by their opponents in the first matches.

The winning team between Al Fakhar and Galacticos in the final match of the group stage, will earn an early berth in the quarter-finals. But the group’s summit will remain at stake.

Victorious reach quarter- finals

Victorious declared themselves as strong contender to win after becoming the first team to progress to the quarter-finals. They defeated yesterday Al Ameed 2-1 to maintain their lead in Group 1 with six points, two points ahead of Suqoor Al Bahrain who beat Nomas yesterday.  Nawaf Al Abdullah put Victorious in the lead in the 38th minute before Mousa Ahmed of Al Ameed pegged them back with a goal in the 52nd minute. Ali Alsfoor fired home to restore the lead of Victorious in the 63rd minute.

Suqoor Al Bahrain turned the table on Nomas

Suqoor Al Bahrain needed a goal in the 94th minute to seal a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Nomas who were condemned to their second loss in as many games.

With this win, Suqoor Al Bahrain have four points, while Nomas remain without any point. Suqoor Al Bahrain found themselves 0-1 behind when Haza Ali of Nomas struck home in the 42nd minute. Umer Mohammed of Suqoor Al Bahrain found the equaliser for his team in the 51st minute, while teammate Mohammed Abdullah shocked Nomas with a goal in the dying minutes to put his team in front and seal full points.

Nomas in good start

Nomas had a good start to the match as they were comfortably moving the ball. They thought they took an early lead when Khalid Lahdan aimed at the goal from far range. But the ball sailed just a few inches over the bar.

Al Suqoor, on the other hand, began to pick pace, and finally got their first opportunity in the 24th minute.
