Shaikh Nasser Award meet held

Manama: The Board of Trustees of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Scientific Research Award in the field of sports is looking forward to take the award a step ahead towards reaching global level.

This was announced after the Board of Trustees meeting, chaired by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee vice-president Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa.

At the meeting, the board also approved the overall budget of this year’s award as well as ways to develop the award in the future in an attempt to create a greater impact on the young generation in preparing scientific researches, with the objective of boosting sports action in Bahrain.

Also present at the meeting were BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, award general secretary Dr. Abdulrahman Sayyar and board members Dr Saeed Al Yamani, Dr Khalid Al Ruwaihi and secretary Mohammed Al Modaweb.

 The award was launched in 2012 by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee President.

It’s in recognition of the scientific research and its role in sport development in Bahrain in three key areas – sports management, sports training and sports medicine.

In accordance to his vision while seeking excellence, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa directed to launch this award in its second edition to become open to participants from all over the Arab region on one hand, and support Bahrainis below 25 years to engage in research work, on the other hand.
